Brazilian goalkeeper’s future at Etihad still uncertain; Donnarumma lined up as replacement.

Galatasaray increase pressure for Ederson

The saga surrounding Ederson’s future at Manchester City gained another twist this week. According to journalist Nicolò Schira, Galatasaray submitted a new €15 million offer for the Brazilian goalkeeper, who remains the Turkish side’s number one target for the season.

The 32-year-old has seen his role under Pep Guardiola questioned following the arrival of James Trafford, and while the coach values him, City have yet to make a definitive decision.

Guardiola hesitant, but City play hardball

Despite showing openness to keeping Ederson, Guardiola has not guaranteed him the starting spot. The Brazilian began the season on the bench, with Trafford gaining more opportunities. City’s stance, however, has been firm: they will only negotiate if the price and conditions are favorable.

For Galatasaray, the deal remains a priority. The club is prepared to offer Ederson a lucrative salary package, betting that a move to Turkey could reignite his career and provide him with more international visibility.

National team ambitions at stake

Ederson’s lack of minutes has already affected his international career. He was left out of Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil squad for the September World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Bolivia, with Alisson (Liverpool), Bento (Al-Nassr), and Hugo Souza (Corinthians) preferred.

A transfer could boost his chances of reclaiming a spot, especially with the next World Cup cycle in sight.

Donnarumma on City’s radar

If Ederson departs, Manchester City have already lined up Gianluigi Donnarumma as a long-term replacement. Talks with the PSG goalkeeper are advancing, with personal terms reportedly agreed.

The final step depends on two parallel negotiations: City reaching a transfer agreement with PSG for Donnarumma and Ederson finalizing his move away. Both discussions are expected to accelerate in the coming days.
