Back to Manchester United? Depay attracts European interest and considers leaving Corinthians

Memphis Depay’s future at Corinthians is uncertain. The Dutch forward has been approached by three European clubs and could leave Brazil just months after arriving, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

European Clubs on Alert

While Romano has not revealed the names of the teams, speculation in Spain suggests Real Oviedo could be one of them. Depay previously had spells with Atlético de Madrid and Barcelona, which has fueled talk of a return to La Liga.

Corinthians, meanwhile, are on alert. The striker is one of the main stars of Dorival Júnior’s squad, and losing him midway through the season would be a significant blow. His contract with the Brazilian side runs until December 2026.

Return to Manchester United?

Among fans, the idea of a comeback to Manchester United has gained traction. Depay’s first spell at Old Trafford between 2015 and 2017 was far from successful, producing just 7 goals in 53 games. Still, some United supporters on social media argue that the team could use his versatility in attack, especially with Bruno Fernandes also linked to a move away.

At this point, however, there is no indication that Manchester United are among the clubs officially pursuing Depay.

Strong Numbers at Corinthians

Since joining Timão in 2024, Depay has been productive: 15 goals and 14 assists in 49 appearances, as well as a decisive role in winning the 2025 Paulistão against Palmeiras.

A Career Full of Highs and Lows

Depay’s best statistical period came at Lyon, where he scored 76 goals and provided 55 assists in 178 games. After spells in England, France, and Spain, the Dutchman could now return to Europe with France once again being mentioned as a potential destination.
