Claudia Pina shines in Barcelona’s preseason and emerges as a key attacking option for 2025/26

With Barcelona facing financial struggles and a reduced squad, Spanish forward Claudia Pina is stepping up to become one of the main attacking weapons for the new season.

Barcelona’s preseason challenges

The Catalan side enters 2025/26 with big goals in Liga F and the Women’s Champions League, despite the departures of Fridolina Rolfö (Manchester United) and Ingrid Engen (Lyon). Financial restrictions have limited squad depth, forcing coach Pere Romeu to rely heavily on existing talent.

During the preseason in Mexico, Barcelona beat the Liga MX All-Stars on penalties (after a 2-2 draw) and defeated Club América 2-1, closing their tour on a positive note.

Claudia Pina steps up

With fewer options available in attack, Claudia Pina has emerged as a decisive figure alongside Ewa Pajor. The Spanish striker scored in the win over Club América and was named MVP of the match, strengthening her role in the squad. Romeu is expected to give her more minutes throughout the campaign.

Season debut

Barcelona kicks off its official season on August 31 at 3 p.m. (Brasília time) against Alhama FC in Liga F. The team also keeps the Champions League as a top priority, after finishing runner-up in 2024/25.
