Mbappé shines as Real Madrid beat Oviedo 3-0 in La Liga

Real Madrid extended their perfect start to the La Liga season with a 3-0 win over newly promoted Real Oviedo on Sunday, a match defined by Kylian Mbappé’s brilliance and a disputed opening goal.
Mbappé decisive once again
The French superstar, already Los Blancos’ most decisive player this season, struck twice once in each half to guide Xabi Alonso’s side to victory. His opener in the 37th minute came after a sharp assist from Arda Güler, but Oviedo players protested immediately, claiming a foul in the buildup. The referee allowed the goal to stand, sparking controversy in the stands.
Mbappé doubled his tally in the 83rd minute, finishing off a swift move initiated by Vinícius Jr. The Brazilian forward then capped the scoreline himself in stoppage time (90+3’), ensuring Real Madrid remain top of the table with maximum points and no goals conceded.
Oviedo’s nightmare start
For Oviedo, life in La Liga could not have begun worse. The Asturian side has suffered back-to-back 3-0 defeats, failing to score a single goal in their first two matches.
Barcelona survive, Atlético stumble
Elsewhere in La Liga, Barcelona pulled off a dramatic comeback against Levante, overturning a two-goal halftime deficit to win 3-2 away. Meanwhile, Atlético Madrid’s struggles deepened as Diego Simeone’s men were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Elche. With just one point from two matches, the Colchoneros sit a worrying 14th in the table.
