Manchester United schedule two friendlies ahead of Women’s Champions League playoff clash

Manchester United’s women’s team will face Real Betis and Liverpool in their final pre-season tests before opening the 2025/26 campaign against PSV Eindhoven.
After a goalless draw with Manchester City last Saturday, the Red Devils are stepping up preparations for a decisive Women’s Champions League playoff. The team will travel to Spain to face Real Betis on August 16 at 8 p.m. CET, before returning to England to meet Liverpool on August 20 at 8 p.m. CET.
Aiming for a Stronger Season
Last season, United pushed Chelsea in the Women’s Super League title race until late in the campaign but fell short in key matches. Manager Marc Skinner’s side is now determined to arrive in peak form for a demanding schedule that includes league and European commitments.
So far, three new signings have joined headlined by Swedish midfielder Julia Zigiotti Olme while eight players have departed as part of a planned squad overhaul. The club’s stated targets are to stay neck-and-neck with Chelsea in the league and reach the Champions League group stage with hopes of advancing to the knockout rounds.
Season Kick-Off Dates
United’s official debut comes on August 27 at 12 p.m. CET at home against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League playoff. Their Women’s Super League opener follows on September 7 at 1 p.m. CET against Leicester City.
