Manchester United ready to spend €150 million on Donnarumma and Baleba

Red Devils prioritize goalkeeper and midfielder to complete squad overhaul
Manchester United is preparing a major spending spree in the summer transfer market, with plans to invest €150 million (R$948 million) to secure the signings of Gianluigi Donnarumma from PSG and Carlos Baleba from Brighton. The proposed breakdown allocates €100 million (R$632 million) for the Cameroonian midfielder and €50 million (R$316 million) for the Italian goalkeeper.
This move aligns with manager Rubén Amorim’s vision of strengthening two crucial positions goalkeeper and midfield as part of the club’s push to finish in the Premier League’s top four and qualify for the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League.
Donnarumma Seen as Solution to Goalkeeper Problem
With André Onana underperforming, signing a new first-choice goalkeeper has become a top priority. Donnarumma, under contract with PSG until 2026, is reportedly no longer part of the French champions’ long-term plans after the arrival of Lucas Chevalier from Lille. The 25-year-old was even excluded from the squad for the European Super Cup against Tottenham.
United view the €50 million valuation as a market opportunity, given Donnarumma’s experience and his role in PSG’s treble-winning campaign last season.
Baleba Valued at €100 Million by Brighton
At just 21 years old, Carlos Baleba has impressed in the Premier League with his physical strength, ball-winning ability, and midfield dominance. Brighton’s €100 million asking price reflects his growing reputation as one of the league’s top young talents.
United see Baleba as the missing link in midfield balance, especially after spending over €225 million (R$1.4 billion) on attacking reinforcements this window, including Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha.
Negotiation Challenges Ahead
While United are prepared to meet PSG’s demands for Donnarumma, talks with Brighton over Baleba could prove more difficult. The Seagulls are under no pressure to sell and will only consider a move for their star midfielder at the right price.
Still, United’s financial power and the players’ openness to a transfer could speed up discussions. The club hopes to finalize both deals before the end of the summer transfer window, ensuring the squad is fully equipped for the upcoming season.
