Striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin in talks to join Manchester United after sacking agent

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, 28, is in negotiations to join Manchester United after leaving Everton at the end of his contract but faces competition from Aston Villa and Newcastle United in the race for his signature.

The England international, now a free agent, has taken personal control of his transfer talks following his decision to part ways with his agent. Despite a disappointing 2024/25 campaign with just three goals in 26 appearances, his earlier prolific form continues to attract interest from top Premier League sides.

Manchester United previously valued Calvert-Lewin at around €59 million (£50m) during his peak years, but the landscape has changed following the club’s €87 million (£74m) signing of Benjamin Sesko. With Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund already in the squad, competition for a starting spot is intense.

Calvert-Lewin has signalled his desire to join a winning project, telling reporters: “My focus has always been on winning; I want to be part of an environment that strives for achievement.” His move to Old Trafford may only materialise if one of the current strikers departs before the transfer window closes with AC Milan reportedly interested in Højlund.

Aston Villa and Newcastle are also monitoring the situation closely, offering potential alternatives for the forward. Calvert-Lewin, who dreams of returning to European competition and competing in the Champions League, is aiming to revive the form that once made him one of England’s most promising centre-forwards.
