Gyökeres scores Arsenal’s first goal in Emirates Cup victory

Swedish striker opens the scoring in 3-0 win over Athletic Bilbao ahead of Premier League debut

Arsenal striker Viktor Gyökeres found the net for the first time since joining the club, scoring in a 3-0 win over Athletic Bilbao in the Emirates Cup on Saturday at Emirates Stadium. The Swedish forward opened the scoring in the 34th minute, heading in a pinpoint cross from Martin Zubimendi.

The 1.89m center forward used his aerial ability to outjump the Basque side’s defense and put the Gunners ahead. This was only his third appearance for Arsenal, following pre-season defeats to Tottenham (1-0) and Villarreal (3-2).

Signed for €63 million in fixed fees, plus €10 million in potential bonuses, Gyökeres’ first goal quickly went viral among Arsenal supporters on social media, with fans praising his movement and finishing.

Saka and Havertz Complete the Rout

Just three minutes after Gyökeres’ opener, Bukayo Saka doubled Arsenal’s lead. The England international finished precisely after receiving a pass from Gabriel Martinelli in a quick move down the left flank.

Kai Havertz added a third before the break, capitalizing on a loose ball inside the box to seal the win. The 3-0 result confirmed Arsenal’s strong attacking display in their final pre-season fixture.

Ready for the Premier League

The Emirates Cup clash marked Arsenal’s last friendly before their Premier League opener. Manager Mikel Arteta will now look to carry the team’s sharp offensive form into competitive action, with Gyökeres expected to play a key role in the club’s push for a Champions League spot this season.
