Manchester United announce Matheus Cunha, Šeško and Mbeumo in triple signing

Old Trafford witnessed the debut of Manchester United’s newest attacking reinforcements during a pre-season friendly against Fiorentina, as the club officially presented Benjamin Šeško, Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha. Together, the trio cost the Red Devils around R$1.4 billion in transfer fees, marking one of the club’s most ambitious market moves in recent years.
Matheus Cunha: Brazilian Flair in United’s Frontline
Signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £62 million (R$453 million), Matheus Cunha arrives with high expectations from fans and coaching staff alike. The 25-year-old forward enjoyed a standout 2024/25 Premier League campaign, registering 17 goals and six assists. His versatility across the attack is seen as a major asset for manager Rúben Amorim’s system.
Šeško: United’s Big-Name Goal Threat
United’s most expensive summer signing is Benjamin Šeško, brought in from RB Leipzig for £66 million (R$482 million). The 21-year-old Slovenian striker netted 21 goals and six assists in 45 matches last season. Seen as a long-term focal point in the attack, Šeško is expected to lead the line in key fixtures.
Mbeumo: The ‘New Salah’?
Perhaps the most intriguing arrival is Bryan Mbeumo, signed from Brentford for over R$400 million. United’s head of data, Mike Sansoni, reportedly identified the Cameroon international as the player most closely resembling Mohamed Salah’s style of play in the Premier League.
Mbeumo’s 2024/25 numbers back the claim—20 goals and eight assists in 40 matches—making him one of the league’s most productive forwards.
Eyes on a Champions League Return
With the new attacking trio, United aim to reclaim a spot among Europe’s elite. Amorim’s top priority for the 2025/26 campaign is qualifying for the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League. The Red Devils kick off their Premier League season at Old Trafford on Sunday, August 17, against last year’s runners-up, Arsenal.
