Arsenal have emerged as the most represented club in the 2025 Ballon d’Or shortlist, with seven of their women’s team stars nominated following a historic 2024/25 campaign that saw them lift the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the second time in the club’s history.

The list includes England internationals Alessia Russo, Leah Williamson, and Chloe Kelly all crowned champions at the Women’s Euro 2025 as well as Spain’s Mariona Caldentey, who finished as tournament runner-up. Australian Steph Catley, Norway’s Frida Maanum, and American Emily Fox complete the Gunners’ impressive contingent.

Arsenal’s tally of nominees surpasses Barcelona, who have six players in contention.

Champions League Glory and Domestic Fight

The London club enjoyed a remarkable season, pushing for the Women’s Super League title until the final rounds and finishing with 48 points from 22 matches. In Europe, Arsenal topped Group C with 15 points, eliminated Real Madrid, and staged a dramatic turnaround against Lyon in the semifinals overturning a 2-1 first-leg loss with a stunning 4-1 away victory.

In the final, the Gunners defeated reigning champions Barcelona 1-0, sealing their second Women’s Champions League trophy.

Upcoming Fixtures

Arsenal begin their 2025/26 WSL campaign at home against London City Lionesses on September 6, followed by away trips to West Ham on September 14 and Manchester United on September 21.
