Manchester United analysis finds Mbeumo is Mohamed Salah’s closest reinforcement

Manchester United have completed the signing of Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, with internal analysis identifying him as the closest reinforcement in style to Liverpool star Mohamed Salah.
According to Daily Mail journalist Chris Wheeler, the club’s head of data, Mike Sansoni formerly with the Mercedes Formula 1 team led the research that highlighted Mbeumo’s similarities to Salah. United’s leadership believes advanced analytics and artificial intelligence will give them a competitive edge in recruitment.
The 25-year-old Cameroonian, described as highly versatile, can operate not only as a traditional number 10 but also in multiple attacking roles, fitting seamlessly into various systems, including Ruben Amorim’s preferred 3-4-2-1 formation.
Club executives are confident they have secured two of the most impactful players in this summer’s transfer window Mbeumo and Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha both capable of adapting to different tactical demands.
Standout Season at Brentford
In the 2024/25 campaign, Mbeumo was a central figure for Brentford, making 42 appearances (39 starts), scoring 20 goals at a rate of 0.48 per game, and providing eight assists.
He has already featured for United in a pre-season friendly against Everton, playing 45 minutes in the 2-2 draw. Fans are now anticipating his competitive debut, while reports suggest another high-profile addition, Benjamin Sesko, could follow before the transfer window closes.
