Barcelona open to selling Gavi to Napoli for €90 million

Barcelona open to selling Gavi to Napoli for €90 million

Napoli is reportedly targeting Barcelona midfielder Gavi in the current European transfer window, with the Spanish club setting a price tag between €80 million and €90 million.

Despite being one of Barcelona’s brightest academy products in recent years, Gavi has not solidified a starting spot under new coach Hansi Flick. With Napoli actively reinforcing its midfield having already signed Kevin De Bruyne the Serie A champions are now pushing to land the 20-year-old Spaniard as their next marquee signing.

According to Fichajes, the Italian side is preparing a €70 million bid but has been informed that Barcelona will only consider a deal at or above the €90 million mark (approximately R$509 million at current rates).

Barcelona Holding Firm on Gavi’s Valuation

The Catalan club is reluctant to lose one of its most promising young players, especially after Gavi’s standout performances during the preseason. In recent friendlies, the midfielder scored once and assisted in a win over South Korea’s Seoul, followed by a two-goal performance against Daegu.

Internally, Barcelona sees Gavi as a key piece for the future and believes he can return to elite form after recovering from a long-term injury. Club executives have made it clear they will not accept offers below their valuation, regardless of interest from major clubs.

Napoli Leading Race Despite PSG Interest

Gavi’s name has also been linked to PSG, where coach Luis Enrique is an admirer of the midfielder. However, Napoli is currently seen as the most likely destination, particularly with Antonio Conte eager to reshape the midfield after winning last season’s Scudetto.

The club’s recent signing of De Bruyne signals its ambition, and bringing in Gavi would further strengthen its chances of defending the Serie A title and making a deep Champions League run.

Laporta Focused on Future Striker Signing

While fending off interest in Gavi, Barcelona president Joan Laporta is also eyeing reinforcements for 2026. The club is already exploring potential replacements for veteran striker Robert Lewandowski. One of the primary targets is Argentine forward Julián Álvarez, with early talks reportedly underway.

Barcelona’s focus is split between preserving its young core and preparing a squad capable of reclaiming European glory in the coming years.
