Manchester City open to loaning Jack Grealish but only if his €350,000 weekly wages are covered in full

Manchester City is willing to loan Jack Grealish this summer but only on the condition that any interested club agrees to pay his full weekly salary of approximately €350,000.

The news was revealed by journalists Ben Jacobs and Alex Crook, who confirmed that the Premier League champions are ready to part ways with the 28-year-old midfielder, but only under financially strict terms. Grealish is currently the second-highest earner at City, trailing only Erling Haaland.

High Wages, Modest Impact

Grealish joined Manchester City from Aston Villa in a record-breaking €100 million deal in 2021. While he arrived as one of England’s brightest talents, his spell at the Etihad Stadium has failed to fully live up to expectations.

In four seasons, Grealish made 157 appearances, scored 17 goals, and provided 23 assists across all competitions. Although he played a role in City’s historic treble-winning campaign and lifted every major club trophy available, his individual impact has remained inconsistent.

Despite his tactical utility under Pep Guardiola, many within the club feel the time has come for a change especially considering his sizeable wage burden.

Interest From Saudi Arabia and Europe

Several clubs have shown interest in acquiring Grealish. According to reports, Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli is monitoring the situation closely and could meet City’s salary demands. Meanwhile, Atlético Madrid, Newcastle, and most recently Everton are also said to be in the mix.

City is open to a loan deal, but won’t entertain any arrangement where they continue to pay part of his salary. This condition significantly narrows the pool of potential suitors, especially within Europe.

Guardiola Believes It’s Time to Move On

Despite being once seen as a key piece in Guardiola’s tactical puzzle, Grealish no longer appears central to the manager’s long-term plans. With new signings and emerging talent vying for attacking roles, City is prepared to let the Englishman leave provided his entire salary is taken off their books.

Whether that happens will largely depend on whether a club likely in the Saudi league steps forward to meet the financial demands.
