Barcelona considers offloading young midfielder amid financial constraints; Spurs and Atlético Madrid show interest

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly eyeing Marc Casadó, a 21-year-old midfielder currently on the fringes of Barcelona’s squad. According to Spanish outlet AS, the Catalan club has officially placed the player on the transfer list after deeming him surplus to Hansi Flick’s plans for the upcoming season.

Spurs and Atlético Competing for Casadó

Spurs are one of the frontrunners to sign the Spanish midfielder and have already been informed of his price tag. Barcelona are demanding €30 million (around R$191 million, or approx. €30 million), according to Sport. Casadó is under contract with the club until June 2028.

Alongside Tottenham, Atlético Madrid have also expressed recent interest in the midfielder. However, sources close to the player suggest that Casadó does not want to leave Camp Nou, at least for now.

Barcelona’s Financial Context Could Force a Sale

Despite Casadó’s preference to stay, Barcelona’s delicate financial situation could prompt a sale. The club is aiming to comply with La Liga’s 1:1 spending rule, which requires balanced accounting to enable further signings.

The possible departure of Casadó would not only provide financial relief but also open room for other midfield options with Frenkie de Jong reportedly favored in Hansi Flick’s rotation.

Other Market Moves at Barça

Barcelona recently completed the signing of Marcus Rashford, who has already made his debut but still awaits registration for official competition. His inclusion depends on whether the club can resolve ongoing registration and wage cap issues.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are also said to be interested in Ronald Araújo, another Barcelona player whose future remains uncertain under the new management.
