Real Madrid will need to sell Rodrygo and Vinicius Júnior to complete Haaland’s signing

Signing Erling Haaland remains a long-term goal for Florentino Pérez, but major sales will be needed to make it happen
Real Madrid remains keen on bringing Erling Haaland to the Santiago Bernabéu, but the operation to sign the Manchester City superstar will require significant financial maneuvering including the potential sale of both Rodrygo and Vinicius Júnior.
According to journalist Ramón Álvarez de Mon, as reported by Bernabéu Digital, the Spanish giants already know the three key conditions that must be met to turn this long-standing dream of Florentino Pérez into reality.
Rodrygo Sale: First Step Toward Haaland
The first major step would be the departure of Rodrygo. The Brazilian winger has attracted strong interest from the Premier League this summer and could be sold for around €100 million funds that would be reinvested into a potential Haaland bid.
Real Madrid sees Rodrygo as dispensable in the long term, especially with Mbappé already in the squad and the possible arrival of another world-class forward.
Vinicius Júnior Could Also Be Sacrificed
In a more surprising twist, the sale of Vinicius Júnior is also on the table. The 24-year-old Brazilian is currently being targeted by Manchester United, who are reportedly willing to spend over R$1 billion (approx. €180 million) to secure the Flamengo product.
Selling Vinicius would not only provide a massive cash injection, but also allow Mbappé to occupy his preferred left-wing position, leaving space for Haaland to lead the line as the central striker.
Real Madrid Will Wait for the Right Moment
While Haaland’s price tag remains high, Real Madrid is in no rush. The club is monitoring the striker’s situation at City and waiting for an opportunity where a move would be financially viable and strategically sound.
Still, club sources insist that Real Madrid will not overspend, even for a generational talent like Haaland. The Norwegian scored 34 goals and added 5 assists in 48 appearances last season, despite injury setbacks.
