Paulo Dybala offered to Grêmio amid uncertain future at Roma

Argentine star linked with surprising move to Brazilian football as Benfica also prepares formal offer
In a surprising development, Paulo Dybala, currently with AS Roma, has reportedly been offered to Grêmio for a possible transfer during the current Brasileirão season, according to journalist César Cidade Dias (Gaúcha ZH).
The Argentine forward, whose contract with Roma runs until June 2026, is now at the center of transfer speculation in both Europe and South America. While Benfica is said to be preparing a formal offer for the 30-year-old, interest from Brazil has suddenly emerged, sparking discussions in the Brazilian media.
€12 Million Release Clause Within Reach
Dybala’s current contract includes a €12 million (R$77 million) release clause, a figure that while substantial is not unprecedented in Brazilian football. For comparison, Palmeiras paid €25 million for Vitor Roque in a record-breaking domestic deal.
The relatively accessible clause, combined with Roma’s openness to reshaping their squad, has created an opportunity for clubs outside the traditional European elite to explore the striker’s availability.
Salary Remains Major Obstacle
Despite the manageable transfer fee, Dybala’s salary presents a significant challenge. He reportedly earns €12.96 million per year (R$83.2 million), or approximately R$6.9 million per month, making him Roma’s top earner and one of the highest-paid players in Serie A.
Such figures are well beyond the financial capabilities of any Brazilian club, meaning Grêmio or any other Brazilian suitor would need the player to agree to a major wage reduction.
From Juventus to Brazil?
Dybala, formerly a key figure at Juventus, has had an injury-hit but still influential spell at Roma. His creativity, experience, and goal-scoring threat would immediately elevate Grêmio’s squad, which has struggled to recover from Luis Suárez’s departure last season.
