Outside of Flick’s plans, Barcelona decides to sell Marc Casadó, but the player has no plans to leave

Club seeks sale to comply with La Liga’s financial rules; player determined to stay through 2028
FC Barcelona has officially made midfielder Marc Casadó available for transfer as part of its financial restructuring efforts, despite the player’s firm stance on staying at the club.
According to Diario AS, club officials have informed Casadó that he is no longer part of head coach Hansi Flick’s plans. The 20-year-old is behind Frenkie de Jong and Marc Bernal in the squad hierarchy, with De Jong expected to renew his contract and retain his starting spot in the midfield pivot.
Valuation and Transfer Options
Barcelona is reportedly seeking at least €30 million for Casadó but is also open to a loan deal with a purchase option. The club aims to make a significant sale in order to comply with La Liga’s 1:1 rule, which restricts club spending in relation to income.
While the board is eager to move the player, Casadó, who joined the senior squad in July 2024, has no intention of leaving. He remains under contract until June 2028.
Last Season’s Performance
In the 2024–25 season, Casadó made 36 appearances for Barcelona, including 29 starts, contributing 1 goal and 6 assists across all competitions. Despite his promising development, Flick is prioritizing more experienced or tactically versatile options.
Interest from Abroad
English club Chelsea has shown preliminary interest in the midfielder, though no official bid has been reported. With several weeks left in the transfer window, Barcelona hopes to find a club willing to meet their valuation or agree to a structured deal.
