Manchester City expected to pay €68–€81 million to sign Lucas Paquetá from West Ham
Premier League champions Manchester City have been informed that they will need to pay between €68 million and €81 million to sign Lucas Paquetá, after the Brazilian midfielder was officially cleared of all betting-related allegations.
The price tag was reported by Brazilian journalist Cahê Mota (GE), citing West Ham’s renewed position in the transfer market following Paquetá’s acquittal. The figure includes both fixed and performance-related add-ons, and reflects the English club’s valuation of the player, who has two years left on his contract.
Paquetá’s Clearance Revives Transfer Interest
With the legal cloud lifted, interest in the 26-year-old midfielder has resurfaced. Manchester City, who nearly signed Paquetá last summer for £100 million (approx. €116 million at the time), are once again monitoring his situation.
Talks had collapsed last year due to the investigation launched by the English FA over suspicious yellow cards. That probe has now ended with no evidence found, opening the door for renewed negotiations.
Flamengo Interest Unlikely to Materialize
While Flamengo has also shown interest in bringing Paquetá back to Brazil, sources close to the player suggest a return to South America is not a priority at this stage of his career. Paquetá remains focused on continuing at the top level of European football.
Paquetá’s Performance with West Ham
Paquetá joined West Ham United in 2022 from Lyon and has since made a solid impact. Over two seasons, he has recorded 18 goals and 14 assists in 120 appearances across all competitions.
In the 2023/24 season, he played 36 matches, starting 28, and contributed five goals and multiple assists. His most recent display came in a pre-season friendly in the U.S. against Everton, where he scored and assisted in West Ham’s victory.
