Chelsea agrees Marc Guiu’s loan to Sunderland after negotiating João Félix with Al-Nassr

Chelsea has agreed to loan 19-year-old Spanish striker Marc Guiu to newly promoted Sunderland, just days after finalizing João Félix’s permanent move to Al-Nassr. According to Sky Sports, the loan is in its final stages and expected to be completed in the coming days.
Guiu, who joined Chelsea from Barcelona in July 2024, was regarded as one of La Masia’s brightest prospects. However, he struggled to earn regular minutes under Enzo Maresca in his debut season and will now seek more consistent playing time in the Premier League with Sunderland.
Standing at 6’2″, Guiu found himself behind Nicolas Jackson in the pecking order and made only a handful of appearances last season. The loan move is seen as a chance for development and match experience in a competitive top-flight environment.
Chelsea’s Attack Undergoes Reshuffling
Guiu’s departure marks Chelsea’s second attacking exit in quick succession. Earlier this week, João Félix was officially transferred to Saudi club Al-Nassr after spending time on loan with both Chelsea and AC Milan.
More changes could follow. Nicolas Jackson last season’s regular starter is currently attracting interest from Newcastle United, though no formal bid has been submitted yet.
Sunderland Making Big Moves
Sunderland, freshly promoted from the Championship, is showing strong intent in the summer transfer window. The club recently secured the high-profile signing of Granit Xhaka from Bayer Leverkusen, bringing the Swiss international back to England after his successful stint in the Bundesliga and his earlier spell with Arsenal.
By adding both Xhaka and Guiu, Sunderland aims to build a squad capable of competing immediately in the Premier League. The signings signal the club’s ambition to avoid a relegation battle and establish themselves in the top tier.
