Manchester City’s Vitor Reis attracts interest from Porto and Bayer Leverkusen amid limited minutes

Manchester City defender Vitor Reis has received loan offers from FC Porto and Bayer Leverkusen as the 19-year-old seeks more playing time to boost his development and chances of earning a Brazil national team call-up.
Loan Talks Gain Momentum as City Eyes Long-Term Plan
Signed by Manchester City in January 2025, Vitor Reis has struggled to break into Pep Guardiola’s first team and is now considering a move away to gain regular game time. According to Brazilian journalist André Hernan, both Porto and Bayer Leverkusen have submitted proposals to take the Brazilian on loan for the 2025–26 season.
Despite the interest, sources close to the player suggest that City still views Reis as part of their long-term project and would prefer a temporary loan deal rather than a permanent transfer.
Girona Interest Stalls as Competition for Minutes Intensifies
Spanish side Girona had also opened talks with the defender earlier in the summer, but negotiations have not progressed in recent weeks. The Catalan club, known for its focus on developing young talent, was considered a strong option, though no agreement has been reached.
Vitor Reis joined City with the future in mind and has found limited opportunities due to stiff competition in central defense. The 19-year-old is understood to be eager for regular football, with an eye on a potential debut for the Brazilian senior national team.
City Open to Letting Young Talents Leave Temporarily
A loan move appears increasingly likely, especially as Guardiola has approved temporary exits for other emerging stars this window. City hopes that a full season of consistent starts in a top European league will accelerate Reis’s maturity and tactical development.
Other Potential Exits from Manchester City
Vitor Reis is not the only young player potentially on the move from the Etihad this summer. Claudio Echeverri, a breakout star from South America, is close to joining AS Roma after impressing in youth competitions.
Meanwhile, James McAtee remains a sought-after talent. City recently turned down a proposal from Nottingham Forest, and further approaches are expected. Jack Grealish has also drawn inquiries, including one from Tottenham Hotspur, leaving his future uncertain.
