Real Madrid eyeing Sevilla’s Loic Badé as cheapest option for defense

Real Madrid is considering a move for Sevilla centre-back Loïc Badé as a more financially viable solution to strengthen its defense, following unsuccessful attempts to land Premier League stars William Saliba and Ibrahima Konaté.

According to sources close to the club, the 25-year-old French defender has become a key target due to his consistent performances in La Liga and his estimated price tag of €25 million. Compared to Saliba and Konaté each reportedly valued above €70 million Badé presents a more balanced investment that fits the club’s evolving squad-building strategy.

The decision comes as Real Madrid prepares for the arrival of Xabi Alonso as head coach for the 2025/26 season. Alonso is expected to lead a tactical overhaul that will include key reinforcements, particularly in defense, without compromising the budget set aside for other critical positions.

Badé has established himself as a reliable presence at Sevilla, noted for his strong positioning, tactical awareness, and comfort with Spanish football. His La Liga experience adds value in the eyes of Real Madrid’s technical staff, who favor players already adapted to the league’s pace and style.

Initially, the Merengues had prioritized Arsenal’s Saliba and Liverpool’s Konaté. However, both English clubs refused to negotiate, reportedly demanding transfer fees exceeding €70 million a figure Madrid deemed excessive amid broader squad planning.

Real Madrid views Badé not only as a financially sensible option but also as a player capable of making an immediate impact. Sevilla is understood to be open to negotiations, adding to the feasibility of the deal.

If completed, Badé’s signing would mark a strategic acquisition in Madrid’s summer rebuild, aimed at reinforcing depth while maintaining financial flexibility.
