Real Madrid opens doors for Reinier’s exit while Flamengo signals interest

With his contract ending in 2026, the 23-year-old could sign a free pre-agreement from January and a return to Brazil is on the table.

Real Madrid has initiated talks to define the future of Reinier Jesus, and a return to Flamengo his boyhood club is emerging as a real possibility.

According to journalist Mario Cortegana, Reinier’s agents are expected to meet with the Madrid board in the coming weeks to discuss an exit strategy. The attacking midfielder, who is not part of Madrid’s plans for the 2025/26 season, will continue to train with Real Madrid Castilla, the club’s B team, in the meantime.

Flamengo Eyes Reinier’s Return

With his contract running until June 2026, Reinier will be free to sign a pre-contract with any club starting January 2026. Flamengo is said to be closely monitoring the situation and has already expressed strong interest in bringing the player back to Rio de Janeiro.

The Brazilian giants sold Reinier to Real Madrid in 2020 for a reported fee of €30 million, but his European journey has since failed to meet expectations.

Reinier’s Struggles in Europe

Since joining Madrid, Reinier has gone on a series of underwhelming loan spells first with Borussia Dortmund, then Girona, Frosinone, and most recently Granada, where he struggled to find consistent playing time.

Now 23 years old, Reinier is eager to revive his career. A return to Flamengo, where he first made headlines as a teenage sensation, could offer the ideal environment for a fresh start.

Madrid Considering Contract Termination

Real Madrid reportedly sees little value in keeping Reinier on the payroll, and a mutual termination could help reduce costs. While still young, Reinier has failed to secure a breakthrough in La Liga or abroad. Yet, his versatility capable of playing both in midfield and attack still makes him a promising project if he can regain form.

Return to Brazil Could Be Career Turning Point

For Reinier, a move back to Brazil could represent a pivotal moment. The style of play, familiar surroundings, and confidence from regular starts could provide the right conditions to recover the trajectory that once made him one of Brazil’s most exciting young talents.
