RB Salzburg and Al-Hilal missed clear chances and tied for the Club World Cup

RB Salzburg and Al-Hilal drew 0-0 this Sunday (22), in a game valid for the second round of the FIFA Club World Cup. The match was held at Audi Field , located in Washington.

The match was very balanced between the two teams, but with many clear goal opportunities missed.

Start of the game with chances for both sides

Two minutes into the game, Al-Hilal managed the first shot of the match, with a shot from João Cancelo that went to the right of goalkeeper Zawieschitzky.

In the 8th minute, Onisiwo almost opened the scoring, being stopped by goalkeeper Bono who made a beautiful and difficult save.

At 20, Marcos Leonardo received the ball in front of goal, but defender Rasmussen ended up intercepting the center forward’s shot, in what was one of the most dangerous chances of the game.

The start of the game was marked by great balance and good football from both teams.

Al-Hilal Monologue

From the 25th minute onwards, the game began to shape itself more towards the Arabs, who began to have the majority of possession and to occupy RB Salzburg ‘s defensive field en masse , creating many goal chances through Milinkovic-Savic, Malcom and Salem Al-Dawsari. Al-Hilal took advantage of the wings to build their plays.

As the minutes passed, the Riyadh team increasingly increased its dominance in the match and saw its opponent rarely manage to get past the midfield.

After four minutes of injury time, Brazilian referee Wilton Pereira Sampaio blew his whistle and ended the first half.

Game returns with greater excitement and balance

For the second half, Thomas Letsch replaced Diabaté with Mellberg. Al-Hilal returned with the same lineup as the previous half.

After just three minutes, Mellberg was in front of goal, but Bono made another great save. Soon after, the team hit back, but the Al-Hilal defender cleared the ball that was already close to the goal line. There were two clear chances for the Austrian team to score and the duel returned in a more exciting and balanced way.

The game remained even, but with few clear chances for either side. RB Salzburg came back much better compared to how they played in the first half.

Game gets lukewarm in the final stretch

Al-Hilal ‘s first change came in the 23rd minute, with Simone Inzaghi taking off Malcom and bringing on Kanno.

The second half continued to be a time of great balance between the teams, but with little excitement.

After six minutes of added time, Wilton Pereira Sampaio ends the duel: RB Salzburg 0 X 0 Al-Hilal .
