Mauricio González’s family has remained largely outside the public spotlight even as the Colombian winger has emerged as an exciting young player in Major League Soccer. Born Mauricio González Carabalí on September 15, 2004, in Lloró, Chocó, Colombia, González developed through the Cortuluá system before playing for Internacional de Palmira, Deportes Tolima and Minnesota United.
Unlike some professional footballers who regularly discuss their relatives and relationships, González has kept his personal life remarkably private. Reliable club profiles and established Colombian media reports do not currently identify his mother, father or siblings by name. There is also no reliable public confirmation that Mauricio González has a girlfriend, wife or children. As of now, most verified information about him concerns his upbringing in Chocó and his rapidly developing football career.
Who Are Mauricio González’s Parents?
The names of Mauricio González’s parents have not been reliably published by Minnesota United, Deportes Tolima, Internacional de Palmira or the major Colombian sports publications reviewed for this profile.
González comes from Lloró, a municipality in Colombia’s Chocó department. His hometown has remained an important part of how Colombian media describe him, with reports frequently referring to the Minnesota United attacker as a young footballer from Chocó.
However, González has not publicly provided a detailed family biography explaining his parents’ identities, professions or their individual roles in his development.
For that reason, names attributed to Mauricio González’s parents on unsourced biography websites or personal social-media accounts should not be treated as confirmed information.
Mauricio González’s Father
Mauricio González’s father has not been publicly identified by name in reliable football sources.
Official Minnesota United information provides details about González’s birthplace, professional career and previous clubs but does not include information about his father.
Likewise, interviews conducted during González’s time with Deportes Tolima have concentrated primarily on his football ambitions, transfers and development rather than his parents.
Without a direct statement from González or a trustworthy family profile, additional claims regarding his father would be speculative.
Mauricio González’s Mother
Mauricio González’s mother has also remained outside the public spotlight.
Her name and professional background have not been established through reliable club or mainstream sports reporting.
Although González’s full name is Mauricio González Carabalí, his family surnames should not be used to guess the full identity of either parent without supporting evidence.
As a result, the most accurate description is that González has kept his mother’s identity private while his public profile has focused on professional soccer.
Does Mauricio González Have Siblings?
There is currently no reliable public information identifying any brothers or sisters of Mauricio González.
Minnesota United’s player biography does not list siblings, while profiles from his career in Colombia similarly focus on his sporting development rather than his family household.
This does not mean González is necessarily an only child. It simply means that no sibling can currently be identified confidently from strong public sources.
Until González or another reliable source provides more information, it would be inaccurate to attach names to supposed brothers or sisters based only on social media.
Does Mauricio González Have a Girlfriend?
Mauricio González has not publicly confirmed a girlfriend through reliable sports reporting or official club channels.
Searches of established coverage surrounding his time with Deportes Tolima and Minnesota United do not identify a romantic partner.
González has instead concentrated publicly on his career, including his excitement about moving to Major League Soccer and testing himself in a new football environment.
As of now, there is therefore no reliably confirmed person who should be identified as Mauricio González’s girlfriend.
Is Mauricio González Married?
There is no reliable public confirmation that Mauricio González is married or has a wife.
Neither Minnesota United nor established Colombian media reports concerning his move to MLS have identified a spouse.
González appears to maintain a clear separation between his professional career and his private relationships. Unless he personally confirms a marriage in the future, reports describing him as married should be treated cautiously.
Does Mauricio González Have Children?
There is currently no reliable public information confirming that Mauricio González has children.
No established profile reviewed identifies him as a father or mentions a son or daughter.
For that reason, there are currently no publicly confirmed children associated with the Colombian winger.
Mauricio González’s Family Background in Lloró, Chocó
Mauricio González was born in Lloró, Chocó, on September 15, 2004. Minnesota United officially lists both Lloró as his birthplace and hometown.
Located in western Colombia, Chocó has produced numerous talented footballers despite being far removed from many of the country’s largest professional clubs.
González eventually had to move beyond his hometown environment to pursue elite football opportunities, beginning the journey that would take him through professional soccer in Colombia and eventually to the United States.
Although public sources reveal little about the relatives who shared his childhood, his identification with Lloró remains one of the strongest publicly documented elements of Mauricio González’s background.
What Is Mauricio González’s Full Name?
The footballer’s full name is Mauricio González Carabalí.
He is generally listed simply as Mauricio González by Minnesota United and Major League Soccer, while Colombian and international football databases frequently use his complete name.

Mauricio González’s Early Soccer Career
González began his professional development with Cortuluá, the Colombian club that later became Internacional de Palmira.

He made his professional debut in October 2022, coming on as a substitute during a Colombian top-flight match against Atlético Junior.
That appearance began a professional journey that would gradually transform González from a relatively unknown academy player into one of Colombia’s promising young wingers.
Mauricio González’s Career With Internacional de Palmira
After Cortuluá became Internacional de Palmira, González continued developing with the organization.
He accumulated 58 professional appearances for the club and scored six goals before an opportunity with Deportes Tolima accelerated his career.
González’s ability to attack defenders from wide positions, combined with his speed and confidence in one-on-one situations, eventually attracted interest from clubs competing at a higher level.
Mauricio González’s Breakthrough at Deportes Tolima
González joined Deportes Tolima during the second half of the 2025 season and quickly became an important attacking option.
He made 27 appearances across competitions for the club, scoring five goals and providing three assists.
His performances helped Tolima reach the final stages of the Colombian championship and generated interest both inside Colombia and abroad.
González later revealed that Atlético Nacional had been interested in signing him. However, the possibility of moving abroad ultimately became the path he followed.
How Mauricio González Joined Minnesota United
Minnesota United acquired Mauricio González ahead of the 2026 MLS season after his impressive spell with Deportes Tolima.
The Colombian attacker signed a long-term contract running through the 2029-30 MLS season, with a club option for 2030-31.
González joined Minnesota as a U22 Initiative player and occupies an international roster spot.
The transfer represented the biggest international opportunity of his young career and took the Lloró-born winger from Colombian football into Major League Soccer.
Mauricio González’s Reaction to Moving to MLS
González expressed excitement after completing his transfer to Minnesota United.
He said that he wanted to approach the opportunity in the best possible way and looked forward to playing in front of the club’s supporters at Allianz Field.
His move also attracted considerable attention in Colombia because Minnesota’s squad included other Colombian players and provided González with an opportunity to test himself in an increasingly international league.
Mauricio González and James Rodríguez
One of the most discussed elements of González’s move to Minnesota was the opportunity to share a team with Colombian star James Rodríguez.
González told Caracol Radio that he had admired James for years and believed sharing a dressing room with the Colombian international would become an important experience in his own career.
For a player who grew up watching Colombia’s national team, joining the same MLS organization as one of the country’s most recognizable footballers represented an unusual career milestone.
Mauricio González’s First MLS Goals
González began receiving first-team opportunities with Minnesota United during the 2026 season.
He scored his first MLS goal against Real Salt Lake in May 2026, finding a late equalizer in a 1-1 draw.
He later scored again against the San Jose Earthquakes in August, continuing to demonstrate his ability to make an impact despite often entering matches from the bench.
Those performances strengthened his profile in the United States and provided early evidence of the attacking qualities Minnesota had identified during his time in Colombia.
Why Is So Little Known About Mauricio González’s Family?
Mauricio González is still relatively early in his professional career, and the majority of coverage surrounding him has focused on football rather than his personal life.
His official biographies contain career statistics, transfer information and details about his playing style but almost nothing about his parents or siblings.

This makes it especially important for articles about Mauricio González’s family to distinguish confirmed information from speculation instead of attempting to fill gaps with unsupported claims.
