Divine Deablo’s father is Donnelle Deablo, who played an important role in choosing his son’s distinctive name.
In November 2016, while Divine was playing college football for Virginia Tech, he explained the origin of his name during an interview published by The Key Play.
According to Deablo, his father was teased about the family surname while growing up because it sounded like the Spanish word for devil.
Donnelle wanted his son to avoid experiencing the same teasing.
He therefore chose the first name Divine, creating a contrast with the surname Deablo.
The unusual combination attracted attention during Divine’s college football career and later became one of the most recognizable names in the NFL.
In September 2023, the Las Vegas Review-Journal revisited the story while examining Deablo’s development as a professional linebacker.
The newspaper confirmed that Donnelle had experienced teasing because of his surname and that this influenced his decision to give his son a spiritually positive first name.
The family has also discussed its connection to a Native American ancestor. Divine has explained that his great-grandfather was Native American and that his family’s name carries an important history.
Although Donnelle’s influence on his son’s name is publicly documented, reliable reporting provides limited information about his occupation, education, and other personal details.

Although Rehea has maintained a relatively private public profile, her identity and family relationship are confirmed by the university’s athletics department.
Divine attended Mount Tabor High School in Winston-Salem before becoming a nationally recruited football player.
His family’s home remained in North Carolina while he attended Virginia Tech, where he developed into a successful college defensive back.
However, available public sources do not provide extensive information about Rehea’s professional background, education, or personal interests.
Consequently, specific claims about her occupation or other aspects of her private life would be speculative.

At the time, he was listed as a member of the Class of 2024 and stood approximately 6 feet 5 inches tall.
His performances attracted interest from several college football programs, including Appalachian State, Boston College, James Madison, Liberty, Navy, Old Dominion, and Yale.
In July 2023, HighSchoolOT reported that Deity had announced a commitment to James Madison University.
However, Georgia State University’s official 2024 football recruiting materials subsequently identified him among its incoming players.
The university described him as an outside linebacker from Oak Grove High School who had earned all-conference recognition as a defensive end.
Georgia State also confirmed his relationship with Divine, identifying the Atlanta Falcons linebacker’s younger brother as a member of its recruiting class.
During his junior high school season, Deity recorded 22 tackles, two sacks, two tackles for loss, and one fumble recovery in nine games.
His progress reflects the continuation of competitive football within the Deablo family.
Divine Deablo’s Family Background and the Meaning of His Name
One of the most interesting aspects of Divine Deablo’s family history is the origin of his full name, Divine Ahmad Deablo.
His unusual name attracted considerable attention during his college football career because of the contrast between the meanings associated with Divine and Deablo.
In a November 2016 interview with The Key Play, Deablo explained that his father chose the first name Divine partly because he had been teased about the family surname during childhood.
The surname resembles the Spanish word diablo, meaning devil.
His father decided that a first name associated with divinity would create a positive contrast.
Deablo also discussed his family’s Native American ancestry, explaining that his great-grandfather was Native American.
His official Virginia Tech biography similarly connects his name with his great-grandfather.
In a 2022 interview with the Las Vegas Sun, Deablo again discussed the family history behind his name and the reason his father selected it.
The story became a memorable part of his public identity, particularly because football commentators frequently mentioned his name during games.
