Johan Lange and Vinai Venkatesham move quickly to appoint the former Juventus boss on a short-term deal to save Spurs’ season.

Tottenham Hotspur have moved with lightning speed to stabilize a season in freefall. Following the dismissal of Thomas Frank, who managed just 13 wins in 38 games, Spurs have reached a verbal agreement with Croatian tactician Igor Tudor to take charge as interim head coach until the end of the season.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, the process was led by Technical Director Johan Lange and CEO Vinai Venkatesham. The 47-year-old former Juventus and Marseille manager is expected to be in the dugout by Monday, with the primary goal of steering Tottenham away from a shock relegation battle.

The “Firefighter” in North London

With Spurs sitting just five points clear of the Premier League drop zone, the board has opted for experience over a long-term project. Tudor arrives with a reputation for demanding high intensity, a trait desperately needed for a squad described as “lacking standards.”

A Calculated Gamble?

While Tudor’s pedigree is undeniable—having managed at the highest level in Serie A and Ligue 1—his most recent stint at Juventus was criticized for being underwhelming. However, Fabrizio Romano reports that Tudor was “ready to accept” the challenge immediately, unlike other candidates who preferred to wait until the summer.

For Daniel Levy and the ENIC group, this short-term appointment buys them time to pursue “heroic” returns for figures like Mauricio Pochettino or rising stars like Marco Rose, without the immediate threat of Championship football looming over the club.
