Former striker Louis Saha warns the Portuguese captain to put his career first, following Bruno’s admission of “sadness” over United’s willingness to sell him for £100m.
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been told to seriously consider his future at Old Trafford this summer. Former United striker Louis Saha has warned the midfielder that “loving the badge” might not be enough under the new, cold-blooded INEOS hierarchy.
Despite being under contract until 2027, the 31-year-old’s future remains a major talking point. With a permanent manager yet to be appointed for the 2026/27 season, the club’s direction is shrouded in uncertainty a situation Saha believes Fernandes must evaluate carefully.
“Think About Yourself” – Saha’s Warning
Speaking to CasinoHawks, Saha highlighted the “uncertain strategy” currently being implemented at the top of the club.
“I think for the respect we have for Bruno, he has to consider his future because the way INEOS thinks is very uncertain,” Saha stated. “The reality is, you can love the club as much as you want, it doesn’t matter. At some point, you have to make your own decision.”
The Saudi Link and the ‘Hurting’ Truth
Last summer, Al-Hilal were reportedly prepared to launch a £100 million bid for the Portuguese star, offering wages of £700,000 per week. While Fernandes chose to stay, he recently admitted that the club’s “ambivalent” stance regarding his sale left him deeply saddened.
“From the club, I felt it was: ‘If you go, it’s not so bad for us,'” Fernandes admitted. “It hurts me a bit. I decided not to go because I genuinely love the club.”
Bruno Fernandes: The Stats at Old Trafford
Since joining from Sporting CP in 2020 for £47m, Fernandes has been United’s most consistent performer:
| Category | Detail |
| Transfer Value | £100m (Asking Price) |
| Current Contract | June 2027 (Option for 2028) |
| Main Suitors | Saudi Pro League (Al-Hilal) |
| Status | Future decided after 2026 World Cup |
What’s Next?
Fernandes has confirmed he will only hold talks regarding his future after the 2026 World Cup. However, with the INEOS regime showing a knack for “brutal decision-making,” the captain’s era at Old Trafford might be reaching its final chapter if a major trophy remains out of reach.
