Manchester United have reportedly halted their pursuit of a new marquee striker following a significant breakthrough in Benjamin Šeško’s form.

The Slovenian international, who arrived from RB Leipzig last summer in a deal worth up to £74 million (including add-ons), struggled to adapt to the Premier League initially. With just two goals in his first 16 appearances, fans and pundits were quick to question if the 22-year-old was ready to lead the line for the Red Devils. However, according to TEAMtalk, the mood at Carrington has shifted dramatically.

The “Fulham Turning Point”

The catalyst for this change was Šeško’s decisive winning goal against Fulham last Sunday. Internally, the club’s hierarchy, led by INEOS, views this performance as the moment Šeško finally “arrived” in English football.

Previously, i Paper correspondent Pete Hall reported that United were actively scouting a more experienced center-forward for the summer window. Now, however, the coaching staff is convinced of Šeško’s potential, prompting the club to pivot their transfer budget toward a massive midfield overhaul instead.

The Harry Maguire Dilemma: Stay or Go?

While the striker situation seems settled, Manchester United face a looming decision regarding Harry Maguire. The veteran defender is entering the final months of his contract, and the board is reportedly split on his future.

Despite his resurgence under Michael Carrick, some executives remain hesitant to offer a long-term extension. Maguire, however, remains a key leadership figure in the dressing room and is keen to stay at Old Trafford, though several Premier League rivals and Serie A clubs are closely monitoring his availability.
