Paris Saint-Germain will be without Lucas Hernández, Matvey Safonov, Lee Kang-in and Ndjantou for their upcoming French Cup match against Paris FC. The Paris derby takes place this Monday (12) at the Parc des Princes, with kickoff scheduled for 5:10 pm (Brasília time), and is valid for the second round of the Coupe de France.
Fresh off lifting the French Super Cup after defeating Olympique de Marseille, PSG begin 2026 facing another city rival, but will have to cope with important absences across different areas of the squad.
Lucas Hernández ruled out; injuries add to PSG concerns
In an official statement, PSG confirmed that Lucas Hernández is the latest addition to the injury list after falling ill and will not be available for selection. Defender Ndjantou remains sidelined as he continues his recovery process.
Goalkeeper Matvey Safonov and attacker Lee Kang-in complete the list of absentees, both having picked up injuries during the Super Cup match against Marseille.
Despite the setbacks, head coach Luis Enrique downplayed the impact of the congested schedule and reinforced the club’s focus on the competition.
“It’s better to play every four days than every ten. We have an advantage. The trips can be tiring, but that’s no excuse. We are used to it. We stay focused, and we love the French Cup. It’s a different competition,” said the Spanish coach.
Luis Enrique praises Gonçalo Ramos’ professionalism
Luis Enrique also took the opportunity to highlight the importance of Gonçalo Ramos, who once again proved decisive in the Super Cup final. The Portuguese striker scored late to force penalties against Marseille and played a key role in PSG’s title victory.
Ramos had previously delivered a similar impact in the European Super Cup against Tottenham, another trophy won by PSG.
“When you sign for a club like PSG, you don’t know how many minutes you’ll play. Your responsibility is to be ready to help the team,” Luis Enrique explained. “Ramos is an example of professionalism. He clearly deserves to play more minutes.”
The coach concluded by emphasizing the striker’s importance to the squad:
“I know he wants more playing time, and he shows what a PSG player should do. I’m very happy to have him. He’s our top scorer, and his numbers are incredible.”
PSG now turn their attention to the French Cup, aiming to advance despite the absences and maintain their momentum early in the new year.
