Lazio have identified Brazilian striker Giovane as their preferred replacement for Taty Castellanos, who is set to join West Ham, with Hellas Verona demanding €15 million (approximately R$94.3 million) for the forward.
According to respected journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Verona are fully aware of Lazio’s interest and have already established their valuation, as competition for the young striker continues to grow across Europe.
Lazio Move Quickly After Castellanos Departure
Following the agreement to sell Taty Castellanos to West Ham, Lazio are prioritizing the search for a new central striker. Giovane has emerged as a leading candidate after an impressive season in Serie A, where he has attracted widespread attention for his consistency and maturity.
The Biancoceleste see urgency in securing a replacement, but the deal is far from straightforward due to significant interest from other clubs.
Giovane’s Rise in Italian Football
A product of Corinthians’ youth academy, Giovane has enjoyed a rapid rise since moving to Italy. His adaptation to Serie A has been seamless, and he is now considered one of the league’s most promising young attackers.
Alongside Nico Paz, Giovane has been highlighted as one of the standout emerging talents in Italian football this season. His performances during the first half of the European campaign have drawn strong attention from scouts across the continent.
Italian and German Clubs Monitoring Giovane
Interest in Giovane extends beyond Lazio. Inter Milan have reportedly added the striker to their shortlist amid uncertainty surrounding Lautaro Martínez’s future. The Nerazzurri have already made informal contact with the player’s representatives to explore a potential deal.
Other clubs monitoring the situation include Juventus, Roma, Atalanta, and Borussia Dortmund. While no formal bids have been submitted to Hellas Verona yet, Inter remain the most proactive club at this stage.
Will Corinthians Profit From Giovane’s Transfer?
Should Hellas Verona complete a sale, Corinthians will be entitled to 1.5% of the transfer fee under FIFA’s solidarity mechanism, as the club where Giovane received part of his football education.
If Verona’s €15 million valuation is met, the Brazilian club would receive approximately R$1.4 million from the deal.
