After nearly a decade of dominance at the Etihad Stadium, Bernardo Silva is set to leave Manchester City at the end of the season, with Barcelona poised to finally secure his signature.

The 31-year-old midfielder’s contract expires in June 2026, and reports confirm he will not be renewing his deal with the Premier League champions. According to El Chiringuito TV, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has given the “green light” for the board to pursue the Portuguese international, believing he is the perfect fit for his tactical system.

A Long-Awaited Dream for Barça

Barcelona has chased Bernardo for several seasons, but financial hurdles always stood in the way. Now, as a free agent, the “Spider” (as he is affectionately known) represents a golden opportunity for the Catalan giants. This season, Bernardo has remained a key figure for Pep Guardiola, appearing in 30 matches and proving his versatility across the midfield.

However, Barcelona faces competition. Clubs like Juventus and Galatasaray are also monitoring the situation, though the player’s long-standing desire to play in La Liga gives Barça a significant advantage.

Ter Stegen Heading to Girona?

As Barcelona prepares for new arrivals, a major departure is also on the cards. In a shocking move, long-time goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen has reportedly agreed to join Girona after falling out of favor with Flick’s coaching staff. Despite interest from Premier League side West Ham, the German international has opted to remain in Spain, joining the City Football Group-owned club.

His peak statistical season came in 2018/19, where he recorded 13 goals and 13 assists, cementing his status as one of the world’s elite playmakers.
