Barcelona Femení continue their reign over Spanish football after securing their sixth Supercopa de España Femenina title with a -0 victory against a resilient Real Madrid side.

In a final that proved the gap between the two giants is narrowing, Pere Romeu’s side had to dig deep to overcome a tactical masterclass from Pau Quesada’s Madrid. Goals from Esmee Brugts and a late penalty from the iconic Alexia Putellas were enough to ensure the trophy returned to Catalonia.

Brugts Breaks the Deadlock

The breakthrough came in the first half from a clinical set-piece. A perfectly flighted corner found the head of Dutch international Esmee Brugts, who benefited from a lapse in the Madrid defense to power the ball home.

Despite the early setback, Real Madrid refused to crumble. Sara Däbritz almost leveled the score before halftime with a spectacular long-range effort that rattled the crossbar, signaling Madrid’s intent to fight until the end.

Misa Rodríguez Keeps Madrid Alive

The second half saw the game open up as fatigue set in. Barcelona looked certain to double their lead, but they were repeatedly denied by an inspired Misa Rodríguez. The Madrid goalkeeper produced world-class saves to thwart Ewa Pajor and Claudia Pina, keeping her side in the contest.

At the other end, the pace of Linda Caicedo on the counter-attack remained a constant threat, and Madrid fans were left frustrated after a VAR review dismissed a penalty appeal for a handball by Irene Paredes.

Alexia Seals the Sixth

As the clock ticked into stoppage time, Barcelona finally put the game to bed. A foul in the box resulted in a penalty, which Alexia Putellas converted with her trademark composure. The 2-0 scoreline secured Barça’s sixth Supercopa trophy in six finals, cementing their status as the undisputed queens of the competition.
