Trent Alexander-Arnold’s high-profile move to Real Madrid has reportedly turned into a nightmare, with manager Álvaro Arbeloa advising the England star to find a new club following a series of recurring injuries.

Arriving from Liverpool in the 2024/25 season with the reputation of being the world’s best attacking full-back, Alexander-Arnold has failed to establish himself at the Santiago Bernabéu. Plagued by fitness issues, his latest setback a serious muscle tear in his left thigh suffered in December is expected to keep him sidelined for at least two months.

A Frustrating Tenure in Spain

Since his arrival as a free agent (following a small compensation fee to Liverpool), the 27-year-old has been a shadow of the player who dominated the Premier League. In his debut season, he managed only five appearances. This year, despite starting seven matches, he has played just 497 minutes, contributing a lone assist a tally far below the expectations of the Merengue board.

According to IndyKaila News, the patience of the coaching staff has reached its limit. Arbeloa has reportedly signaled that Trent is no longer in his long-term plans, despite the player’s current contract running until June 2031.

Pedro Porro: The Planned Replacement

Real Madrid are already moving to fix their right-back dilemma. The club is reportedly scouting Tottenham’s Pedro Porro as the primary candidate to succeed Alexander-Arnold. Porro’s familiarity with La Liga and his consistent performances in the Premier League make him the ideal profile to provide the reliability that Trent has been unable to offer.

What’s Next for Trent?

For Alexander-Arnold, a return to the Premier League seems the most logical escape route. While his legacy at Liverpool remains intact, several top English clubs are expected to monitor his recovery. However, any potential suitor will have to weigh his undeniable world-class talent against a worrying injury record that has derailed his career in the Spanish capital.
