Manchester City have wasted no time in the winter transfer market following the signing of Antoine Semenyo, as the Premier League champions are reportedly preparing a major move for Marc Guéhi, the Crystal Palace defender. The English club is looking to strengthen its backline following injuries to Joško Gvardiol and Rúben Dias.

According to the Daily Star, City are ready to offer £30 million (R$ 216 million) to secure the immediate transfer of Guéhi, who has emerged as one of Europe’s most sought-after young defenders. The club is aiming to pre-empt other interested teams and finalize the deal before competitors can intervene.

Guéhi in High Demand

Guéhi, who is also a regular for the England national team, is attracting attention from some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, and Liverpool. His contract with Crystal Palace expires on June 30, meaning he could sign a pre-contract agreement with another club if no transfer is agreed this month.

Manchester City appear determined to act quickly, presenting an irresistible offer to secure the 23-year-old before rivals enter the race.

Crystal Palace Manager Admits Player Could Leave

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner acknowledged the possibility of losing his star defender this winter if City’s offer is accepted and Guéhi expresses a desire to move.

“It could happen… I’m not naive, I know that if a big offer comes from Manchester City and Marc wants to go, it will happen,” Glasner said.

Using a metaphor, the German coach explained the dilemma of holding onto a key asset when faced with an extraordinary offer:

“Let’s say I have a nice car, but I need money because it’s cold and my house window is broken. Someone makes a crazy offer. ‘I don’t want to sell my car, I love my car… But I also don’t want to freeze.’ So you reply: ‘If you give me money to buy a new window and fix the roof of the house, I’ll sell the car.’ But the truth is, I don’t want to sell the car.”

The comments underline the tension Crystal Palace face as one of Europe’s top young defenders becomes the target of a Premier League powerhouse.

Manchester City Aim to Strengthen Their Squad

After completing the Semenyo signing, Manchester City continue to prioritize squad reinforcement to remain competitive on all fronts this season. Securing Guéhi would provide Pep Guardiola with added depth and quality in central defense ahead of crucial Premier League and European fixtures in 2026.
