The Galatasaray striker was injured in Nigeria’s 1-0 win over Rwanda and left the field with a visibly bent leg.

Osimhen injured in World Cup qualifier

Victor Osimhen, one of the most coveted strikers in world football, suffered a serious injury this Saturday (06/09) while playing for Nigeria against Rwanda in the World Cup Qualifiers. The 25-year-old collapsed after an attacking play and immediately caused concern among teammates and fans.

Images of the striker’s leg, visibly bent, circulated on social media and shocked internet users. Despite the severity, Osimhen initially tried to get up, a gesture that only increased the reaction online.

One fan wrote: “He still tried to stand after that injury. Incredible. I hope he recovers soon.”

Injury history raises alarm

The incident adds to a worrying sequence of injuries in Osimhen’s career. Since 2023, the forward has already suffered ten different injuries that have kept him off the pitch.

Even so, he continues to post world-class numbers. Last season, with Galatasaray, Osimhen scored 37 goals in 40 matches and provided seven assists, proving why he remains one of the most decisive attackers in Europe.

PSG and other clubs monitor

The Nigerian’s physical fragility has not diminished interest in his signing. PSG, looking for a long-term replacement in attack, monitored his situation during the last transfer window.

Clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester United, and Al-Hilal were also linked to Osimhen before Galatasaray secured him on a permanent deal.

For now, the focus is on the striker’s recovery, which could significantly affect Nigeria’s campaign in the qualifiers and Galatasaray’s season.
