Milan beat Bologna as Modric’s goal lights up San Siro

AC Milan earned their first home victory of the Serie A season with a 1-0 win over Bologna, sealed by a brilliant second-half strike from Luka Modric. The Croatian veteran proved decisive once again, guiding Massimiliano Allegri’s side to three important points in a tense encounter at San Siro.
Balanced First Half at the San Siro
The opening 45 minutes were tightly contested. Bologna, under Vincenzo Italiano, defended with discipline and threatened on the counter through Riccardo Orsolini and Joshua Zirkzee. Milan pressed forward through Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Santiago Giménez, but the breakthrough didn’t come before halftime.
Modric the Difference-Maker
The decisive moment arrived in the 62nd minute. After a flowing Rossoneri move, Modric struck from the edge of the box with precision, beating goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski to ignite celebrations in the stands.
Bologna pushed back late on, exploiting Milan’s fatigue. Mike Maignan kept the visitors at bay with two crucial saves before leaving the field with a minor injury, forcing Allegri to turn to his backup keeper.
Controversy arrived in the 89th minute when a Milan penalty was overturned after a VAR check. Allegri protested furiously and was sent off for dissent.
Milan Hold Firm for Vital Win
In the closing stages, Milan showed composure to protect their narrow advantage and even created chances on the counter to extend the lead. The victory brings relief after their earlier home setback against Cremonese and reinforces Allegri’s push to stabilize the Rossoneri in the top half of the table.
Despite the defeat, Bologna left San Siro with credit, demonstrating resilience and quality but ultimately lacking cutting edge in the final third.
