Former Manchester United striker Anthony Martial could leave AEK Athens for Mexico

Anthony Martial, former Manchester United striker, may soon leave AEK Athens to continue his career in Liga MX. According to French outlet L’Équipe, the 29-year-old forward has attracted strong interest from Pumas UNAM, who are already in talks with the Greek club.

Pumas Make Contact for Martial Transfer

The Mexican club’s board has reportedly approached AEK Athens to explore the conditions of a possible deal. Negotiations are ongoing, and if they progress positively, Martial could land in Mexico in the coming days.

The French forward is currently under contract with AEK until June 2029, but his limited game time may facilitate an exit. This season, Martial has featured in just one match. In the 2023/24 campaign, he played 23 games, scoring nine goals and providing two assists.

Martial’s Journey After Manchester United

Martial said farewell to Manchester United at the end of the 2023/24 season, closing a chapter that began in 2015. He made more than 300 appearances for the club, contributing with decisive goals but also struggling with inconsistency and injuries.

His time at Old Trafford also included a short loan spell at Sevilla in the 2021/22 season, where he played 12 matches, scoring one goal and registering one assist.

Across his final two seasons with United, Martial recorded 11 goals and four assists in 48 appearances, before leaving on a free transfer to AEK Athens.
