Bayer Leverkusen loan Victor Boniface to Werder Bremen after failed Milan move

Nigerian striker Victor Boniface will spend the rest of the season at Werder Bremen after Bayer Leverkusen agreed to a loan move. The deal comes just days after his proposed transfer to AC Milan collapsed due to failed medical tests.

Loan to Werder Bremen Sealed

Bayer Leverkusen confirmed late on transfer deadline day that Victor Boniface will join Werder Bremen on loan until the end of the 2025/26 season. The striker, who had been in talks with AC Milan, saw that deal collapse when he failed routine medical examinations in Italy.

The move ensures Boniface remains in the Bundesliga, where he built his reputation as one of the league’s most dynamic forwards.

Failed Milan Move Changed Plans

Earlier this week, reports indicated that Boniface had reached an agreement with Milan over personal terms. However, medical evaluations raised concerns, leading the Rossoneri to pull out of the deal at the last moment.

With Milan out of the picture, Werder Bremen stepped in, negotiating swiftly with Leverkusen to secure the forward before the window closed.

Boniface’s Impact at Bayer Leverkusen

The 24-year-old striker leaves Leverkusen after a productive two-year spell. In 60 appearances across all competitions, he scored 32 goals and delivered 11 assists, playing a central role in the club’s historic Bundesliga title run.

His pace, finishing, and ability to stretch defenses made him one of Xabi Alonso’s key men during the club’s recent success.

New Chapter at Werder Bremen

At Bremen, Boniface is expected to take on an immediate role in the attack as the club looks to secure a safe position in the Bundesliga table. The coaching staff sees him as a proven Bundesliga scorer who can complement their existing options and add much-needed firepower.

The loan also gives Boniface a chance to rebuild momentum and prove his fitness after the failed Milan transfer.
