Bayer Leverkusen eyes signing Matthias Jaissle to replace Erik Ten Hag

Bayer Leverkusen are actively searching for a new head coach after parting ways with Erik Ten Hag last week. The German club dismissed the Dutchman following a disappointing start to the season and is now evaluating several high-profile options to take over the team.

Jaissle Emerges as Favorite

According to Sky Sports, one of the leading candidates is Matthias Jaissle, currently in charge of Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia. The 36-year-old German coach has built a strong reputation abroad, winning multiple titles and earning idol status at the Saudi club.

Leverkusen’s board views him as an attractive candidate to lead the Bundesliga side’s rebuild and is seriously considering an approach.

Negotiations Yet to Begin

At this stage, Leverkusen has not opened formal talks with Jaissle or Al-Ahli. The club is still analyzing the market and weighing its options before committing to a definitive target.

Alternatives on the Table

Besides Jaissle, reports in Germany claim Xavi Hernández was also approached by the club. However, the Spaniard is understood to have rejected Leverkusen’s interest.

For now, the Bundesliga side continues its search, aiming to secure a new manager quickly and stabilize the squad after Ten Hag’s record-short tenure.
