Arsenal suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Liverpool this Sunday (1) at Anfield, in the Premier League. A stunning late free-kick from Dominik Szoboszlai sealed the win for the reigning English champions, leaving the Gunners frustrated despite a strong performance.

Arteta criticizes missed chances

Speaking after the match, manager Mikel Arteta praised his team’s dominance but admitted Arsenal’s wastefulness in front of goal was decisive.

“There are two ways to win or lose this type of match: one is an individual error—it didn’t happen. The other is a magical moment, which unfortunately happened for Liverpool,” Arteta said.

The Spaniard added that Arsenal managed to control large parts of the game but failed to convert their superiority:

“I’ve never seen Liverpool suffer at home like they did against us. We were much better than last year, when we drew. Much, much better.”

What’s next for Arsenal

Despite the setback, Arteta highlighted the team’s progress compared to previous visits to Anfield. However, the Gunners face further challenges as they prepare to meet Nottingham Forest in their next Premier League fixture, still missing key players like Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, and Bukayo Saka.
