Xabi Alonso calls up Manuel Ángel, Diego Aguado and Daniel Yanez for Real Madrid’s professional training session

Manuel Ángel, Diego Aguado, and Daniel Yáñez promoted to professional sessions as Alonso evaluates academy talent
Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has added three promising youngsters to the first-team training squad as preparations for the 2025/26 season continue at Valdebebas. The players Manuel Ángel, Daniel Yáñez, and Diego Aguado are part of a new initiative by the coach to assess rising talents from the club’s academy, La Fábrica.
According to journalist Rodra from ESPN, the trio joined the professional group on Monday, August 4, and will be observed closely during this week’s sessions.
Manuel Ángel Considered a Standout Talent
Among the three, Manuel Ángel is viewed as one of the most technically gifted players from La Fábrica. The coaching staff sees high potential in the midfielder, and Alonso is keen to evaluate his performance in a first-team environment.
This marks a significant opportunity for Ángel to impress the new manager and potentially earn minutes throughout the upcoming campaign.
Yáñez and Aguado Already Made Senior Debuts
Daniel Yáñez, 18, made his debut with Real Madrid’s senior team last season under former manager Carlo Ancelotti, appearing briefly in the La Liga match against Girona during Matchday 16.
Diego Aguado, also 18, featured in the Copa del Rey round of 32 clash against Deportivo Minera. Although both only logged limited minutes, their inclusion signals that they remain on the club’s long-term radar.
Xabi Alonso Sets Expectations in Early Training
According to reports from local Spanish media, Xabi Alonso has already communicated each player’s projected role in the squad for the season. The former Bayer Leverkusen manager is also implementing several structural changes to Real Madrid’s training routines and tactical drills.
Whether the young trio will secure spots in the final squad remains uncertain, but their current involvement in first-team training marks a critical first step in proving their readiness to contribute at the elite level.
