Real Madrid scouts track Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton

Real Madrid have been keeping a close eye on Crystal Palace’s rising star Adam Wharton, sending scouts multiple times to monitor the 21-year-old’s performances, according to Mail Sport. While no immediate signings are planned, the Spanish giants are evaluating potential targets for future transfer windows.
Scouting Without Immediate Transfer Plans
As reported by The Athletic’s Mário Cortegana, Real Madrid currently have a full squad and are unlikely to finalize any deals this summer. However, the board remains active in tracking emerging talents, with Wharton now firmly on their watch list.
Wharton’s Profile and Market Value
Wharton joined Crystal Palace from Blackburn Rovers in January 2024 and is under contract until June 2029. His current market value is estimated at €45 million. In his first half-season with the Eagles, he played 27 matches, starting 21, and provided three assists. He also lifted the FA Community Shield after a penalty shootout win over Liverpool.
From Blackburn Prospect to Premier League Talent
Developed in Blackburn Rovers’ youth academy, Wharton made his senior debut in the 2021/22 season. By 2023/24, he had become a key figure for the club, scoring two goals and providing three assists in 29 games performances that drew the attention of Premier League scouts and eventually secured his move to Palace.
Madrid’s Long-Term Market Strategy
Although Real Madrid are unlikely to move for Wharton immediately, the club’s strategy includes closely monitoring young talents across Europe to be ready when opportunities arise. Wharton’s progress in the Premier League could make him a strong candidate for a future transfer to the Santiago Bernabéu.
