Real Madrid earns over €100 million from academy-trained full-back sales

Hakimi leads the list as the most expensive transfer; club profits from youth system in last five years
Over €100M in sales from youth products
Real Madrid, often associated with record-breaking signings, has also proven highly profitable when it comes to selling academy-trained players. According to AS, Los Blancos have raised €103 million in the last five years exclusively from the transfers of full-backs developed at La Fábrica.
Recent transfer window highlights
- This summer alone, three players boosted Madrid’s coffers:
- Miguel Gutiérrez – Sold to Napoli after excelling at Girona. Madrid earned €9 million from the deal, in addition to €4 million already paid by Girona in 2022.
- Rafa Obrador – Signed by Benfica for €5 million, chosen as Álvaro Carreras’ replacement.
- Yusi – Transferred to Alavés for €3 million.
Major historical deals
The biggest success remains Achraf Hakimi, sold to Inter Milan in 2020 for €43 million after a loan spell at Borussia Dortmund. Madrid later collected another €2.1 million when Hakimi moved to PSG.
Other notable departures include:
- Sergio Reguilón → Tottenham (€30M)
- Álex Jiménez → Milan (€5M)
- Fran García → Rayo Vallecano (€2M, later re-signed by Madrid)

Real Madrid now turn their attention back to the pitch. On Saturday (30), they host Mallorca at the Santiago Bernabéu at 4:30 p.m. (Brasília time) for the third round of LaLiga.
