Real Madrid could lose all rights to Nico Paz’s transfer

Real Madrid is in danger of losing all buyback rights to Nico Paz, with Serie A side Como determined to secure full control of the Argentine midfielder’s future.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Como who signed Paz from Madrid in August 2024 for €6 million is working to purchase 100% of the player’s federation rights. The club is also seeking to eliminate the three buyback clauses that currently allow Real Madrid to re-sign the 20-year-old over the next three seasons.

Buyback clauses under threat

The current deal gives Real Madrid the option to bring Paz back for €9 million in the first year, €10 million in the second, and €11 million in the third. Removing those clauses would give Como full autonomy over the midfielder’s future and ensure any profit from a future sale stays in the Italian club’s hands.

Rapid rise in Serie A

Paz has been one of Como’s standout performers since his arrival, making 35 appearances and contributing six goals and nine assists during their 10th-place finish in Serie A. His market valuation has surged to €35 million nearly six times his original transfer fee attracting attention from clubs across Europe.

Madrid’s interest blocked

The midfielder briefly returned to Real Madrid’s radar earlier this year following Luka Modric’s departure. However, the signings of Franco Mastantuono and the emergence of Arda Güler put an end to any immediate return.

With Paz’s stock rising rapidly, Como’s push to secure full rights could close the door on a Madrid comeback, making the coming months decisive for the player’s long-term future.
