Real Madrid agrees to swap Rodrygo for Saliba and could reach an agreement with Arsenal

La Liga giants could part ways with Brazilian forward in exchange for top Premier League defender

Real Madrid is reportedly exploring a high-profile swap deal that could see Rodrygo Goes leave the Spanish capital in exchange for William Saliba of Arsenal, according to Defensa Central.

With new head coach Xabi Alonso assessing his squad ahead of the 2025/26 season, Rodrygo’s future at the Bernabéu appears uncertain. The Brazilian forward was used sparingly during the Club World Cup and may no longer be an essential part of Madrid’s plans.

Saliba: A Longtime Target for Real Madrid

Florentino Pérez has admired Saliba for several seasons, and Real Madrid continues to monitor the French international’s performances in the Premier League. The 24-year-old center-back has become a cornerstone of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side, making 51 appearances and scoring two goals last season.

While Arsenal has set a price tag close to €100 million, reports suggest that a player-for-player exchange could be a more realistic route, especially as Rodrygo’s market value closely aligns with Saliba’s.

Arsenal’s Dilemma: Reinforce Attack, Lose Defensive Star?

The North London club has not confirmed any willingness to part ways with Saliba, but the idea of receiving a Champions League-proven attacker like Rodrygo could be tempting.

Rodrygo, 24, has been part of Madrid’s golden era, winning multiple titles including La Liga and the UEFA Champions League. However, since the latter stages of last season, and now under Xabi Alonso, he’s struggled to maintain a consistent starting role.

Despite this, interest in Rodrygo remains strong. Tottenham reportedly submitted a significant offer for the Brazilian, though the player is said to have little interest in joining Spurs.
