Real Betis give up on Dani Ceballos to prioritize signing Antony from Manchester United

Real Betis have officially ended their pursuit of Dani Ceballos, shifting financial focus toward a move for Antony from Manchester United, according to Spanish outlet Tempo de Jogo. The Andalusian club had been in talks with Real Madrid over the 27-year-old midfielder, but their transfer strategy has changed with the window closing soon.
Betis Turn Attention to Antony
Ceballos, who previously rejected offers from Saudi Arabia in hopes of returning to Betis, now finds his move blocked. The Spanish club sees more value in investing heavily to land Antony before the transfer deadline in early September.
The Brazilian winger is a priority signing for Betis’ management, aiming to boost the squad with creativity and pace on the flanks.
Ceballos Running Out of Options
The lack of minutes under Xabi Alonso has made Ceballos’ situation more urgent. He has featured for just four minutes this season, sitting behind an elite midfield featuring Federico Valverde, Aurélien Tchouaméni, and Eduardo Camavinga.
Real Madrid are open to selling, setting a price tag of around €12 million (R$75 million), according to Partidazo de COPE. However, with time ticking down, the player’s market options are narrowing.
Marseille Still in the Race
Earlier in the summer, Olympique de Marseille approached Ceballos with an appealing project that promised more playing time in Ligue 1. Although initially interested, the midfielder decided to wait for offers from more competitive leagues, hoping to boost his chances of making Spain’s 2026 World Cup squad.
With Betis out of the picture, Marseille may still be the most realistic destination unless new bids arrive in the final days of the window.
