PSG’s Luis Enrique warns of a tough Champions League ahead: “There won’t be an easy game”

Paris Saint-Germain prepares for the 2025/26 Champions League with high expectations and tough opponents.
PSG, the reigning UEFA Champions League champion, has learned its schedule for the initial phase of the tournament. The French side will face Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Atalanta, Bayer Leverkusen, Tottenham, Sporting CP, Newcastle, and Athletic Bilbao, with four games at home and four away.
Coach Luis Enrique expects a high level of competition in every match.
“It’s the competition everyone wants to win. Starting it as defending champions is a huge motivation. With this new format, every game will be of the highest level; there won’t be any easy matches,” Luis Enrique stated.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi also highlighted the excitement of returning to Europe’s premier club competition:
“I can’t wait to hear the UEFA Champions League anthem again; all the teams are here because they deserve it.”
Domestic Focus: Ligue 1 Clash with Toulouse
Before the European campaign begins, PSG returns to Ligue 1 this Saturday (30), facing Toulouse at the Municipal Stadium at 4:05 pm (Brasília time). Both sides enter the match with a 100% record from the first two rounds.
“We’re used to facing teams that defend deep against us. Tomorrow I expect a tough game, with little space. Toulouse won their first two matches and are on a good run. It’s up to us to impose our game to continue this strong start to the season,” Luis Enrique explained.
Probable PSG Lineup
According to Whoscored, Mayulu, Kimpembe, and Kvaratskhelia are doubtful for the match. PSG’s likely starting eleven could include:
Goalkeeper: Chevalier
Defense: Hakimi, Marquinhos, Zabarnyi (Pacho), Nuno Mendes
Midfield: Zaïre-Emery (Vtinha), João Neves, Fabián Ruiz
Attack: Dembélé, Doué, Barcola
“I expect a tough game, as always on the road. We’ll face a low block with little space. They’re in good form, also with two wins since the start of the season. We need to win this match because we want to continue on the good path we’ve already started,” Luis Enrique concluded.
PSG enters the Champions League with confidence but awareness that every match will demand top-level performance from the defending champions.
