Nottingham Forest decides to part with Carlos Miguel, former Corinthians goalkeeper

Former Corinthians goalkeeper advised to find new club; Cruzeiro, Palmeiras, and Fluminense emerge as possible destinations
Carlos Miguel’s stint at Nottingham Forest appears to be coming to an end. The English club has officially informed the Brazilian goalkeeper that he is no longer part of their plans and should seek a new destination ahead of the 2025/26 season, according to The Telegraph.
The 26-year-old, who joined Forest from Corinthians last year with expectations of becoming a starter, failed to make an impact and managed just three appearances. Belgian goalkeeper Matz Sels has since established himself as the club’s undisputed No.1, leaving little room for Miguel in the squad.
Forest are now in the market for a new backup goalkeeper, further pushing Miguel out of contention. Despite being under contract until 2028 and valued at approximately €4.2 million, the club is ready to facilitate his departure.
Cruzeiro Could Renew Interest
Cruzeiro, who previously attempted to sign the goalkeeper at the beginning of the year, could reignite talks. At the time, Carlos Miguel preferred to remain in Europe, but with limited opportunities in England, a return to Brazil may now be more appealing.
Remaining in European football is not off the table either. Miguel has spent a full season in England and could attract interest from clubs in the lower tiers of the English football pyramid or elsewhere on the continent.
Fans at Home Calling for His Return
Meanwhile, some Brazilian fans have started social media campaigns urging clubs like Fluminense and Palmeiras to consider signing Carlos Miguel. While there is currently no official approach from either team, the goalkeeper could be seen as a valuable addition during the open domestic transfer window in Brazil.
With his future at Nottingham Forest all but sealed, the next few weeks could be decisive in determining whether Carlos Miguel will remain in Europe or make a high-profile return to Brazilian football.
