Manchester United accepts Roma’s offer for Jadon Sancho: Deal nears completion

Manchester United have accepted Roma’s offer for Jadon Sancho, moving a step closer to finalizing the winger’s departure from Old Trafford. The deal, revealed on Saturday (August 16) by journalist Fabrizio Romano, is now pending the player’s approval before being officially sealed.

Loan with obligation to buy

According to reports, the agreement is structured as a loan with a mandatory purchase clause at the end of the contract in June 2026. Roma will pay £20 million (approximately R$146 million) to secure Sancho on a permanent basis once the loan concludes.

The move comes after Sancho was left out of manager Ruben Amorim’s plans for the upcoming season. The winger has already spent time away from Manchester United on previous loans, including stints with Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea, but this time the exit appears definitive.

Part of United’s squad overhaul

United have been actively reshaping their squad, aiming to move on from expensive contracts and underwhelming signings of recent years. While Antony’s situation remains unresolved, Sancho looks set to be the next departure as the club continues its rebuild under Amorim’s leadership.

Sancho’s recent form

At 25, Sancho is still seeking to rediscover the form that once made him one of Europe’s brightest young attackers. Last season, he played 42 matches across spells with United and Chelsea, scoring five goals and registering nine assists.

Despite inconsistent performances, he remains determined to regain his best level. With a move to Serie A on the horizon, Sancho hopes regular minutes at Roma will boost his chances of returning to the England squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup under manager Thomas Tuchel.
