Liverpool target Marc Guehi expected to leave Crystal Palace after the 2025 season

Defender plans to become a free agent next summer amid interest from top European clubs

Marc Guehi has decided he will stay at Crystal Palace for the 2024/25 season, despite strong interest from Liverpool and other European giants. The 24-year-old defender, who impressed last season in the Premier League, has informed those close to him that he intends to run down his contract and leave on a free transfer in July 2026.

Liverpool’s Interest Meets Palace’s Demands

Liverpool recently contacted Crystal Palace in hopes of securing Guehi this summer, but talks stalled due to high asking prices from the London club. With negotiations proving difficult, the England international is prepared to see out his current deal.

Contract Situation

Guehi’s contract expires in June 2026, meaning that by next January he could sign a pre-contract agreement with any club outside England. According to journalist Alex Crook, the player has no plans to renew, effectively ensuring his departure next year.

Rivals Join the Race

While Liverpool remain favorites to land Guehi, local media reports that Chelsea where he began his career and Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring his situation closely.

If Palace cannot convince him to extend, they risk losing one of their defensive pillars for nothing at the end of next season.
